AOL Email

Tuesday, February 28th, 2006

We’re currently having trouble emailing AOL users, so if you’re with AOL and are expecting an email from Otaku Software please bear with us. I’ve contacted both AOL and our host and hope to have this problem sorted out within the next day or so.

Come Fly With Me

Tuesday, January 31st, 2006

Not only is Perth, Australia home to TopDesk, we’ve now got a flying car too…

Forum Fine-tune

Friday, January 20th, 2006

As part of the website revamp the forums have been streamlined. The TopDesk Support and General Discussion archives have been merged into a single archive forum, the Removed Posts forum as been “removed” (it only contained duplicate posts and various hateful screeds against TopDesk :) ), and the Other forum has been taken out (no-one used it).

And Now, Forum Spam

Friday, November 25th, 2005

The forms were starting to get some spam posts, so I’ve changed the forum settings so that only registered users can post. Again, I know it’s inconvenient, but it’s better than the alternative. Email spam, blog spam, and now forum spam – seems all I ever talk about these days is spam…

Spam, lovely Spam, wonderful Spam

Friday, October 14th, 2005

Some of the blog posts have been getting hammered by comment spam, so I’ve turned on comment moderation. I realize it’s an inconvenience, but I’d like to think that people read this blog to find out about TopDesk, not online casinos :) .

Feedback Loop

Saturday, September 17th, 2005

I found BentUser while searching Technorati for mentions of TopDesk. It’s a nice site that has detailed reviews software and hardware, and popped up on the search because they just so happened to review TopDesk.

There’s one thing that I think could be improved though – as far as I can tell there’s absolutely no way to provide them with feedback on their articles. The ability to comment on an article would be nice, but at the very least I think there should be an email address or contact form that you can fill in. As it stands, this blog is the only way I have of reaching them.

So if anyone from BentUser reads this, I’d like to say: “thanks for the review, that windows aren’t full hidden so they can be recovered if something goes wrong with the system, and that if you turned off ‘update window images before tiling’ and turned on ‘live window updates’ you’d see much better performance.”

Turning Japanese

Friday, September 16th, 2005

I’m pleased to announce that TopDesk is now distributed in Japan by P. & A., Inc.. If you have any questions or would like to talk about distributing TopDesk in another country, feel free to shoot us off a sales enquiry.

Affiliates

Monday, September 5th, 2005

The switch over to a Plimus store went smoothly so we’re now looking at one of the other features offered by Plimus: affiliates. There’s a topic on the forums that goes into the details, but the gist of it is “how do users feel about TopDesk being sold by affiliates, and, if we were to go ahead with it, are any users interested in becoming one”? Let us know what you think.

What’s in store

Thursday, September 1st, 2005

We’ve switched our online store payment gateway from PayPal to Plimus . We’ve never had any problems with the PayPal store, but the PayPal ordering process is a bit clunky and long-winded. The new store should provice a much more “streamlined” ordering experience. For customers who bought TopDesk using the old store, it’s business as usual – you’re download links will still work (if they haven’t expired), and you’ll still be able to track your purchase using PayPal.

Let us know what you think of the change. Depending on the feedback we get from customers we’ll either keep the Plimus store, switch back to PayPal, or offer both. If you’ve got any questions about the new store, please submit a customer service request.
