DeskSpace 1.5.1 Released

DeskSpace 1.5.1

DeskSpace 1.5.1, our new 3D virtual desktop application, has been released. DeskSpace helps you eliminate clutter, become more efficient, and get organized by expanding your desktop space into 3D. If you’d like to try it out, you can download the trial or buy it at the Online Store.

This version features the following additions and improvements:

  • Dramatically improved graphical performance and memory usage.
  • 360 degree sky box backgrounds.
  • Smoother animation.
  • Support for multiple monitors.
  • Support for multiple user accounts.
  • Improved stability and numerous bug fixes.

I’d like to take the opportunity to thank all the users who helped us during the beta test. The quality and quantity of feedback we received was outstanding, and played a huge part in making DeskSpace the best it could be.

We’ll continue to improve DeskSpace in the coming weeks and months, so stay tuned. Future enhancements will include:

  • Live desktop previews.
  • Support for desktops and images on the top and bottom cube faces.
  • 360 degree cube rotation.
  • Support for 2-16 desktops.
  • Better cube control, including cube physics and Beryl-like mouse rotation.

DeskSpace 1.5 Beta R4

DeskSpace 1.5 Beta R2

DeskSpace 1.5 Beta R4 has been released. If you’ve signed up to test the beta you should receive a notification email in the next few hours. If you haven’t yet signed up for the beta and you’d like to test it out, you can sign up here. This version contains the following bug fixes and improvements:

Bug Fix: Desktop Wallpapers now work on Windows XP systems when Active Desktop is enabled.
Bug Fix: The taskbar no longer disappears when switching desktops.
Bug Fix: Icon positions on multi-monitor systems are now handled correctly.
New Feature: Multi-language support is now available.
New Feature: Press Left or Right Arrow key while rotating will rotate to next face without bounce animation.

DeskSpace Multi-Language Support

DeskSpace supports multiple languages through the use of translation files, and we’d really appreciate your help in translating DeskSpace into as many languages as possible. If you’d like to translate DeskSpace, download the English language translation file and then contact Support once you’ve finished translating to arrange to have your language file made available on our website.

DeskSpace 1.5 Beta R2

DeskSpace 1.5 Beta R3 has been released. If you’ve signed up to test the beta you should receive a notification email in the next few hours. If you haven’t yet signed up for the beta and you’d like to test it out, you can sign up here. This version contains the following bug fixes and improvements:

Bug Fix: Separate desktop wallpapers now work on Windows Vista.
Bug Fix: The desktop wallpaper background color can now be set for each desktop.
Bug Fix: Cube reflection now only displays the front most cube faces.
Bug Fix: Mouse no longer “sticks” when cursor is moved to left-hand side of the screen.
Bug Fix: Left-clicking on the left-hand side of a maximized windows title bar no longer activates the cube.
Bug Fix: Mouse button no longer “sticks” if released after cube is deactivated.
Bug Fix: Reduced occurrences of window appearing on cube face while being dragged to other desktop.
Bug Fix: Further reduced window flashing when switching desktops.
Bug Fix: The Windows taskbar no longer appears when dragging windows.
New Feature: Optional cube “bounce” animation when zooming and rotating.
New Feature: DeskSpace now fades cube to configured transparency (except when zoom is 0.0).
New Feature: More image format options to help users tweak memory usage and performance.
New Feature: New language file available for translation.
New Feature: Improved window dragging functionality.
New Feature: Improved desktop image quality for desktops that haven’t been switched to yet.
